Shane and Yvonne: Day After Session in Kauai

I don't think a lot of words are necessary for this post... Shane, Yvonne, Matt and I headed off around the south side of Kauai for their "day-after"/"trash the dress" session. We tried to mostly avoid the typical Hawaii shots and spots... and ended up on the side of the road, briefly trespassing on a ranch, on the steps of a Buddhist temple, and finally on the rocks at the beach. Yvonne and Shane made it so much fun for us... and they looked amazing! See a few images below and a slideshow here. Enjoy! (Didn't see their wedding day post?... click here...)

Shane and Yvonne: Married in Hawaii!

I can't believe it's already been a month since Shane and Yvonne's wedding at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. Shane and Yvonne are dear friends and Matt and I attended their wedding as guests but... we just couldn't help ourselves. So, the photographer from the hotel was nice enough to let me shoot along side him (he was a very nice guy :)).

Matt and I arrived at the airport in Kauai at about 2:00... and the wedding started at 4:00!!! So, we hurried ourselves over to the hotel and were hardly even tired because we were so excited for the wedding. I was able to spend time with Yvonne and the girls while they got ready and Matt hung out with Shane and Mike and caught a few shots with them. Then, it was off to the beautiful ceremony and very fun luau where Shane and Yvonne were treated like celebrities... resulting in them having their first dance in the middle of the luau and with a more Hawaiian themed dance on the stage a little later... where Shane strutted his stuff for Yvonne. We were all very impressed. ;)

Thank you, Shane and Yvonne, for inviting us to share in this amazing day with you. We will never forget it... nor will we ever forget...

- puka dogs (and their buttery companion spread... questionable... but a "must have" just the same)
- the helicopter flight (and Matt's fortunate swallow on the way down... fortunate for me that is)
- making Shane trespass on that ranch for the sake of truly awesome picture
- stories of your ill fated night/morning as a result of that muddy day trip
- BBQ's at Moser Estate ;) (courtesy of Poipu Kapili) and all of the good and not so good antics that followed
- snow cones... snow cones... and more snow cones at Jo Jo's
- the hurricane force rain and wind in Princeville... as we sat on the beach... went running for cover... and laughed the whole time!
- that amazing kalua pig pizza and authentic and personal Hawaiian music session on our last night there... we'll NEVER forget that... what a surprise and a great memory
- our amazing friends... Thanks again for letting us share in your honeymoon time. ;)

So, without further ado... here are some photos and a slideshow from the day of the wedding (note- the slideshow is long and the song is not... it keeps repeating... but it's Elvis!... come on). The amazing day-after session will be posted shortly... you guys look incredible in those ones!!! Love you- Natalie and Matt

Yvonne was a little emotional while getting ready.
Yvonne's adorable nieces.
I loved that the flower girls didn't wear dresses... so cute and unique.

Okay... how lucky is Shane?

Yvonne and her dad.

The one lifting up Shane? That would be Mike... Shane's wonderful best man. ;) As you can see, they're very close.

Look at that sky.
Classic.

A New Addition to the Moser Family!!! ;)

Well, Matt and I have been waiting to share some big news until we knew a little bit more... and now it's time!

It's official... our little family of two will increase by one in March!!! And, we found out this week... through a very up close and personal ultrasound (it looked like baby was sitting on a photocopier spread eagle!)... that it's a BOY!!!

The one directly above... do you see it... these ultrasounds are kind of difficult to make out sometimes... picture it... little baby bottom in lower right hand corner with legs going out to opposite corners from there... with a little cover up for the boy "stuff." Trust daddy... it's there! ;)

We're so excited!!! I feel fantastic... no morning sickness or anything! And, no... we don't have a name yet! ;)

How will this affect my clients or clients to be... I hope not at all... there will just be more of me to love! ;) I'll be taking March and April off but I'll be available before and after that pretty much full time for weddings and lots of portrait sessions.

Natalie Moser Photography: New Website is LIVE!!!

Check it out!!! My new website is LIVE!!!

I'd like to call this a "soft" opening... meaning I'm looking for comments and feedback while I fine tune the galleries, etc. Please note that the new site is located at a different web address...

www.nataliemoserphotography.com.

Got that... "Moser" is spelled out in this one. ;) My old site is still live but will be coming down shortly. So, if you link to my site from your blog... pretty please change the url link to my new address... thank you bunches!!! (For now, the blog will remain at the same address).

Again, I'm still working on the galleries but the bones are there and I'm really excited about it. I worked with the fantastic folks at Livebooks to create it and I'm really happy with the way it looks... clean and modern... with BIG pictures!!! You can view a few featured slideshows directly from the site, as well. I hope you enjoy it!

I'd love to hear your comments/feedback on the site.

Oh... and check out the first 4 shots in the "WED: portraits" portfolio... they're from Shane and Yvonne's "Day After Session" last week in Kauai... BTW- I'll be blogging that (the wedding, our fun adventures and the Day After session) next week. Yvonne looks AMAZING! Shane doesn't look too shabby either. ;) Oh... see if you can find Yvonne in the opening images... hint... "beauty : captured."

Meanwhile, I'm off to shoot a wedding tomorrow in San Diego and then Saturday I'm off for some destination portrait sessions in Texas where I'll be doing both a senior session on Saturday and a family session at White Sands in New Mexico on Sunday... should be pretty cool! You know... I don't think I've ever been in 4 states (Hawai, California, New Mexico, and Texas) in that little time before... phew! ;)

I'll be back early next week!!!

Brides Magazine/WPJA Contest: I won 1st Place!

I'm so excited!!!

One of my images won first place in the Group/Bridal Party category in the 2007 Brides Magazine/WPJA Photography Contest. Round 1 of the contest was judged by an all Pulitzer Prize winning panel and the final round of images was then judged by the Editorial Department of Brides Magazine. I feel very honored to have an image place, let alone win 1st, and to be amongst a group of very esteemed photographers.

You can link to the online article at Brides magazine here and (if you want...) you can check the news stands for the November/December Issue of Brides Magazine where the 1st place images will be featured.

Without further ado, here's the image...

It was taken at the Parker in Palm Springs right before the wedding of Mimi (
wedding planner extraordinairre of Enjoy Celebrations and Occasions) and Gabe Palmer.

Here's what the judges had to say about the image, "With the bridesmaids’ backs to the camera, Moser turns a standard before-the ceremony moment into an intimate, dramatically lit portrait. The flower girls’ body language is classic kid-dom: bored but trying so hard to behave."

More exciting news is coming soon... a new website perhaps?... stay tuned!!!

And, to my clients and clients-to-be who are awaiting email/phone responses I'm almost through my stack from being gone last week. Thanks for your patience!!! Talk to you soon!

Jenny and Dan: E-session in Huntington Beach

I'm back! :)

First thing's first... I promised Jenny and Dan that they would get to see their pics today so here they are! Jenny is a fashion major and Dan owns a clothing store in Tennessee (Dan flew in for the session... well, to see Jenny, too...) ;). These two were so cute together.

We had the best time during their "extended" e-session. They opted for a longer session (we spent a very fun three hours together down in Huntington Beach.) Four outfits, a box of Sprinkles cupcakes, a few changes of clothes in their car, and a lot of laughs later... we ended our day in the parking structure for some really cool night shots.

Here's a slideshow... I had so many pictures that I couldn't choose only a few to post on the blog!

I wish you two all of the best on your wedding later this month. Sorry I won't be there to shoot it but I know you will make an amazing bride and groom. May your marriage be even better than you can imagine! I'll see you next for your "Day After" session. I can't wait!!!

Best- Natalie
